Michelle McBean is the Senior Scientific lead of the Molecular Haematology Laboratory at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. She graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in 2001. She has over 15 years of experience in diagnostic Molecular Haematology and has overseen the development of the Molecular Haematology service over that time and the translation of a wide array of assays for haematological malignancy using both conventional and novel technologies.

Most recently she has overseen the validation and implementation of targeted next generation sequencing for use in patients with myeloid and lymphoid malignancies. Together with her team of over 15 scientists and technicians Michelle is passionate about the provision of cutting-edge and high quality molecular diagnostics to patients with blood cancer.
